Lightweight, you only get to boast about what gsm devices you have used if it starts with a 5820 or 5810.
Potentially, 2g can be a lot slower than 3g, but the biggest factor are the sites you are visiting, any site that has had a bit of mobile optimisation should load rapidly enough that the slightly longer time 3g takes to get going offsets most of the speed gains and you don't notice much difference either way at first, the big benefit of 3g is the sustained throughput rather than initial burst.
As far as a 3g curve, we got the bold and the 8900 before the holiday period last year, so logically we could expect to see a 3g curve sometime around then because the carriers like having something new in the stores at that time.
