New BlackBerry on Rogers
Please Login to Remove!
Hello All,
I have a blackberry bold 9000 that's almost 2 years old and I'm looking to upgrade soon. What do you feel will be the next new blackberry on Rogers? I'm tempted to just buy the 9700 but If something comes out new in the next couple of months I don't mind waiting.

There's always something new coming. If you want/need some capabilituy of the 9700 and you can aford it, get it.
If you are happy with what you got, run it into the ground until it quits.

The 9700 just launched a few months ago, I doubt Rogers will be getting anything new soon. The upcoming phone that everyone is waiting for is the Tour2, which I believe is a cdma device and won't work on the network.
I suggest going for the 9700, it just came out and due to that I doubt they will have anything new for awhile.

I personally wouldn't upgrade to the 9700 because it's too similar to the 9000.. if the 9000 works just fine for you, I would wait for the next BB to come out for Rogers (which I don't think will be coming out this year) so you don't waste your HUP on a phone that's pretty much a bit better than the 9000.
Or if you have parents or siblings who don't really care, you could convince them to get the 9700, unlock both BBs, and swap devices with them. So then you get your 9700, get to keep your HUP for the next up and coming phone, and your parents/siblings are fine with a BB.

thanks for your reply. I will continue to use my 9000 until the next BB comes out. The 9700 is basically the same except for the optical pad. thanks for your responses. I'm just curious when RIM will release their next latest and greatest.

Not sure if the BB slider will be running on Roger's 3G Network, but from what I've read it's basically the phone I've been waiting for.. lets just hope the specs don't disappoint! I've read rumors that it will come up by the end of the year, although you never know since everyone seems to have a "source", and only a handful of them are actually credible sources. I will have a year left on my contract when August comes, and if the Slider gets great reviews on Bell or Telus, I might consider jumping ship :D

Don't bet on the slider. I know it is out there on someone's rumor list or wish list, but don't bet the farm that it is coming anytime soon.
Not really RIM's modus operendi - a slider format. Would be way out of character IMHO. But then if they are stuck on the consumer market, it could.
In any case, when it hits, we will know.
