Hi,
I just got a new storm 9530 and when I try to upgrade it to the new 5.0 OS I get the following error.

You cannot update your software using this system as your device is currently activated on Balckberry Enterprise Server or Blackberry Professional Software. Please contact your system administrator for update. Or check for updates from your carrier service provider.

However I am using my Gmail account and for personal use and as far as I think BES is not involved.

Pls advise on how to go about this?

Did your employer buy this phone or did you?
It may be set up on your Blackberry Enterprise Server and will not allow you to upgrade your Blackberry.

No, I bought it from a store personally.

Under Services Status it shows:

Blackberry Internet Service:
Connection: Not Connected

Blackberry Enterprise Service
Connection: Not Connected

Do you have a BB data plan?

Might try a battery pull and see if that does anything.

However, it sounds to me like it might have an IT Policy on it. Or when you installed DM, did you select the Enterprise Server option as opposed to the personal option?

I did try a battery pull a couple of times.

Yes I do have a BB Plan.

I am not sure about the setup, I think I will uninstall/install and see how it works.

Hi,

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Manager, this time i downloaded the new version from the website. I also chose the BIS option.

However even know when I try and update I get the same error as earlier.

Any ideas?

I did a 'Wipe' on the Storm and managed to run through the process of upgrading the OS. This took about 15 mins. However even now when I go to Options, About, it states v4.7.0.167 (Platform 4.0.0.205)

I even did a battery pull after the upgrade, however it seems to be still stuck to the earlier OS.
