I am trying to upgrade my OS on the Storm from 4.7 to 5.0. However, when I connect the device USB cable nothing happens.

Then when I go to Blackberry Application loader, the pin field is blank. Then I can't type anything in the field.

I don't want to load the Blackberry Desktop Manager because it slows down my PC considerably.

So does your Storm never connect to the PC correctly?

Do this, unplug it, and remove the battery (don't turn it off first) and replace to reboot.

Also, turn the PC off and back on. When it is completely rebooted, connect the BlackBerry to the USB cable (which is connected to a REAR usb port, not a hub or front PC port).

Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

I downloaded the 5.0 upgrade software, ran the software, my desktop says the Storm has been upgraded to 5.0. However, nothing changed at all on the Storm itself and it stil says 4.7.

I don't think anything happened.

Should'nt the Storm have rebooted or something? Please let me know.
