Anyone who has had an 83XX or 88XX knows they originally came with OS 4.2, but nice people at RIM gave us a real gift with OS 4.5. It stands to reason then that devices like the 8900 and Bold which shipped with OS 4.6 will be able to receive builds for OS 4.7 or 5.0. I've seen early builds of OS 5.0 which I think were running on a curve, but I can't be sure. Does anyone know if roadmaps exist to deploy anything higher than 4.6.x to the 8900 or Bold, and as a related subject if the 83XX will receive OS 4.6 as the 8350i did? Thanks!

I think rumor was Bold was to be released mid last year and OS 5.0 by the end of last year. Obviously it never went that way.

I'm sure the newer devices will get 5.0, it's just a matter of time.

I don't see them getting 4.7, I think that will basically be the touchscreen OS. I do think 5.0 will be released for them, at least from RIM. Which carriers will release it, thats a different story. Hopefully the vendor.xml trick won't go away.

who cares, the current 4.5 has about everything on board which can ever be usefull on a blackberry anyway :D

Most of the devices will go to OS 5.0 eventually. They will skip the in-betweens and go to 5.0.

I had a beta copy of 5.0 running on my 8310. Didnt have the capabilities to run the browser or bb messenger, but it was fun to play around with for a few hours. It had a ton of bugs, was fun to play with, but only played around with it for a few hours.
