I don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this but we are testing the beta Longhorn software (Vista) and while Blackberry Desktop Manager v4.0.10 installed fine, when we attached any USB connected BB the device freezes with a blank screen and the LED light on solid. It never shows up in Device Manager (even in yellow) and the device resets as soon I disconnect it. No problem with serially connected devices.
Vista is still veryyyy buggy, especially with detecting hardware and installing drivers, sometimes it works , sometime it doesn't, i just gave up on it, till they updated. hopefully it doesnt come out with some of these issues.
I had a hell of a time installing V4 of the Desktop software, but it did eventually work under Vista Build 5231. The actual installation took a LONG time - probably almost 15 minutes. But the ONLY thing that's now giving me grief is when you dock the unit the wireless sometimes (50% of the time) turns off and I actually have to re-seat the battery to get it working again.
I've got the desktop software installed on my Vista Beta 2 machine. Windows installed the software no problem, and when I plug in the phone Windows detects the phone. But the desktop manager software never sees the phone. Any ideas?
I am also using Vista Beta 2 (Build 5384) Blackberry Desktop Manager installed fine, the driver installed fine, but BDM cannot see my 8700g. Slightly Frustrating.
Device manager does not reconize the Blackberry...
you probably need the blackberry software installed and make sure you are running Beta 2. i don't think it will work with the earlier version of Vista.
Anyone had success with built 5384? Installed the blackberry software .. MS detect a bberry and recharge it.. But intelisynch doesnt detect anything on the usb....
