Default Beneficial business features of Storm

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, can someone help point me to some beneficial business features of the storm (not media features)?

Our company is looking to get some Storm devices (we primarily have 8800/8830e Devices) and are wondering if there is a benefit in getting some storms over the 8830 devices?

So far, I've found (all unconfirmed)
- Full HTML web browsing
- Busy Searching in Calendar
- Edit MS word, excel, powerpoint documents

Any others? Thanks!

My company has many guys traveling to asia. Biggest advance for me is the Storm and Bold have the 1900mhz so they can work in Japan. Not sure if you know that whole story but until those two phone.. NO blackberry from a US carrier would work in Japan (technically they should also work in S.Korea as well but i'm waiting on confirmation on that).

In my company that's all I had to say to sell an upgrade on our true road warriors.

The Storm is EVDO Rev A. All prior BB's are Rev 0. Comparing theoretical speeds, Rev A is 50% faster on downloads, and 1000% (yes, 10x) faster on uploads - approximately.

I use my Pearl all day every day as a tethered modem. The increased speed of Internet access is enough reason for me to upgrade. Especially the increased upload speed, when I'm trying to email an attachment from my laptop.

If the GPS is unlocked, as has been reported but not yet confirmed, that is potentially a $120 per year cost savings compared to other VZW BlackBerrys. If you're paying $10/month now for VZ Navigator, you could drop that and use Google Maps or some other navigation app.

Well current devices do support HTML. Now the V4.5, v4.6 and V4.7 devices have enhancements, and "improved" browsers.. but I don't know if there is a HUGH difference.

Exactly what do you mean by this? I know BB OS v4.5 supports Free/Busy look up when used with a BES that is V4.1 SP6.

BB OS v4.5 includes DataViz Documents to go Standard. Download the FREE updates via the hand held and this allows for editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Once your wireless carrier releases v4.5 code for your devices, you can load it and get these features.

Biggest Draws I see...

The Storm/9530 is QuadBand GSM and UMTS2100 for world roaming, including Japan and Korea. Where as the GSM 8800/8820 units are Quadband GSM, and don't include UMTS2100, so no Japan/Korea. And the 8830 is Dual Band GSM, supporting only the two frequencies used in north america.

More memory (1gig) allows for more data to be stored on the Storm that prior devices (except the bold which also has 1gig).
