Default Bold on T-Mobile can use EDGE AND WiFi, correct?

As the title states.. I have some people telling me no, some yes. Some posts I have read can only use WiFi for browsing and while others have commented that this issue has been resolved, has it? Will I without any doubt be able to browse with EDGE if I bought an unlocked bold to run on T-Mo?

It was my understanding that the only differences would be: no calls thru WiFi, and no 3G due to the diff freq.

Your understanding is correct. Use either WiFi or EDGE for browsing. EDGE is very similar in browsing speed to ATT's 3g by objective tests. You cannot be on a call and receive email on EDGE however. Some consider this to be the biggest advantage to 3g on ATT.

I agree with that - may be switching to them when y T-Mo contract expires. Don't want to make the switch now because I'm not sure about being locked in for two years.

I'm in the process or searching for confirmation on this, but I also have to decide pretty soon if I'm purchasing this unlocked Bold (Roger's branded for T-Mo use) -- so I was wondering, does T-Mo have these service books included now? I read that they do on the storm and no additional work is needed for browser setup on EDGE, but haven't seen anything specific on the Bold.

Thanks for your help!

Nevermind - forgot where I saw it -- it was over on CB

Looks like service books should be included now, and if not - I'm sure I'll get it working one way or another.

Wirelessly posted (bb8320TMO)

I'm using an att branded bold which I unlocked through att on TMO network. I get EDGE and wifi but no UMA. Everything else works like it should sms, mms, ...etc.
