Exclamation hack to refrain from going into landscape

Please Login to Remove!

as soon as i move my BB a little to the right or left...the unit heads into landscape.....
I hate landscape...and would love to find a hack that would disable it completely....
Anyone have any ideas???

The BlackBerry isn't hackable. The accelerometer issues are being worked on in each OS update.

not possible yet... though i suppose it's not out of the realm of possibilities that someone might create a proggie that would provide this function.

.76 is the latest officially released version, so you're not missing anything! Betas for .83 and .85 can be found if you search for them, but you're installing those at your own risk. There's a thread on at least .85 in the "Beta You Than Me" section here on the forum.

You arent the first that doesnt like Landscape mode. I would imagine that eventually something will be created to keep it from going. I have no issues with it, the only thing that bothers me is that when going to answer a call and it switches modes, it takes a couple of seconds to answer the call.

Ditto, usually results in a missed call. Pain in the a$$.

I've also had trouble answering the phone via the touch screen button. I've ended up sticking with the physical green send key to answer though even then my phone likes to ignore it at times.

First of all, learn how to spell. It is not a proggie, it is a pierogi. See:
Pierogi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Next: Anything is hackable. The Blackberry is a well documented platform. If you were to read the extensive documentation (which would make you a developer) you would find that most of these features are software accessible. There are numerous programs that lock the Storm in the portrait mode. In fact, this is done by most 3rd party apps that are not written with the Storm in mind. Some developers have mastered this and have produced software that is compatible with the Storm. Ascendo is a good example. In a matter of a few days they modified their software to resolve the portrait / landscape issue. The question in this thread is the inverse problem. To get the phone to stay in portrait, software must be "un-Stormed".

Could I do this for you: almost certainly. But I seriously doubt that you could afford it. Sorry. (Oh yes, I am a registered BB developer, but I do nto develop for anyone outside my own company). 73

Actually, you just need to get yourself a sense of humor.
We all know (myself included) what a proggie is. It's slang for PROGRAM. Script kiddies and "hackers" use this term. Much like "addy" is slang for "address".

We were just having a little fun with the use of it in the above post... so don't get your knickers in a twist, OK?

Ummmm r u ok? you seem to be upset... or possibly trying to patronize fellow members by eluding to your absolute genius...
I'm not impressed and would not pay a developer to mfg a hack for me...I'd wait..maybe go back to my 8830..until something better came along...
Money is not an issue...I could proabably afford about 20 of you.

I do however appreciate the info on Proggies...I actually knew the terminology..I was simply making a joke....unfortunately you took it too hard...
I hope your not planning to "off yourself" due to stress....
go get a massage!

Happy New Year!!

The BlackBerry has never been "hacked" to my knowledge and the OS has been around for close to 10 years now. That's a strong track record.
RIM controls all the API's for the OS. It will remain secure because you can't execute a file without bypassing an API.
That is the reason we don't see as many apps on a BB as opposed to an iPhone or a Symbian device. RIM is about a secure OS on a secure device because at the end of the day, they live by corporate business.

Happy New Year to all!!

P.S. We need to get hudres a massage!

That is pretty much what I meant, only I lacked the technical vocab to explain myself.
