Default Using a Storm unlocked on ATT network, on Verizon as roaming?

Please Login to Remove!

Let me be a little more specific. I have a Storm unlocked and is currently in use on the AT&T network. what I want to know is, can I roam on the Verizon network when the AT&T service is unavailable? I am going to go on thanksgiving break back home and there is no AT&T service there.

My boyfriend has the curve, AT&T stock, and says he knows you can roam on Verizon but I am unsure as to whether he is right. Is there a way I can test it now and try to roam on Verizon?

No, you can't.

He's wrong. An AT&T curve will not roam to Verizon. The two carriers use incompatible network technologies.

But that doesn't tell me whether my Storm will roam, as it has the capabilities to work on both networks.

As I said earlier, you can't.
When you're using an unlocked 9530 on AT&T's network, you can't roam on Verizon's network.
You're forcing the phone into GSM mode, and Verizon's network is CDMA.

Switching the phone to Global or EVDO mode will do nothing for you, because you're not a Verizon subscriber.

Is there another network I can roam off of? Sprint or someone?

I think that IF you are out of your ATT home coverage area, you will roam in some cases to Tmobile and other GSM networks.

But in most cases Tmobile's coverage is worse than ATT.

Sprint, no.

Tmobile doesn't get coverage there either. I might as well get a Verizon prepaid phone and use it for the trip.

Here is another question then:

I have an old verizon Blackberry I used before I switched to ATT. Can I get prepaid cards for it to use it, or will I have to activate it on some sort of plan?

Last I heard, Verizon doesn't put a BlackBerry on its network with out the BlackBerry Data Plan.

I think for what you need a pre-paid cheap phone would be your best bet.
Juat make sure its a CDMA phone.
