Default Stains under touch screen- How to clean

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys.

I accidently spilled some juice on my 9500 and it has managed to seep under the touch screen.

The phone is working perfectly but ther are some stains visible under the screen.

Any sugessions on how to get this cleaned.

I live in the UAE, Abu Dhabi and the service is from our local provider Etisalat.

Any help will be appreciated.

You can have a tech take it apart and clean it.

Or you can do what I did for a cranberry juice stain on the upper corner. This is not something endorsed by RIM or this Forum, but simply an experiment on my part.

I powered down the phone and removed the battery. I used my steamer with the hand attachment. I held the phone face down and from a distance I heated the corner of the screen. Eventually the juice stain heated and leaked out. I dried the phone with a towel and hit it immediately with a hair dryer until the phone was noticeably warm and dry.

The screen came clean and I powered it up hours later with no issue. I am using the same Storm and so far there have been no issues. However, I caution you to try this only at your own risk.

Thanks but thats not gonna work in this case as the stains have set and are all over the screen not just in one place.

Its funny my service provider will not help in this situation even if I pay for it.

Can anyone suggest a place in the UAE wher this can be opened up and cleaned ?

wsfahmed,

you can purchase a torqx screw driver over the internet, disassemble the Storm yourself, and either clean the screen or purchase a new one to place inside the the Storm. Below is a link which gives you complete step by step instructions on how to disassemble and reassemble your Storm - color photos included.
