I am sick and tired of the BlackBerry service-it is just not reliable enough for me. How hard is it to PUSH email?

Within our (global) corporation:
Total number of BlackBerry customers in the Americas - c. 1200
Total number of calls to the Global Service Desk: 1
Total number of people who replied to the note that went to all employees: 1
Total number of iPhone users who talked smack to me: 2 (and the both work for me)
Overall impact: minimal
So while we may rant and rant, most people don't take this quite so seriously.

Yea, about the same here. Both me and our company Helpdesk receive outage notifications from Sprint, so IF anyone called, they were just told what was going on. I didn't receive a single Helpdesk ticket on this.
Had it all went south earlier in the day, I probably would have received a Helpdesk ticket, but not a lot I could have done about it anyway.

Same here. I told a few people about it at work this morning, they didn't seem to care. All that matters is that everything was up and running today.

Only those that live by it - have BB OCD - called the Service Desk. I got the call and advised of the meltdown. I agree: It's a big deal - but not a big deal.
I don't see anyone moving due to it...

Had this NOT been the case, then this outage would have been BIS email and BBM/PIN only, not the complete data outage we experienced.
Why is our internet browser data all going thru RIM servers????

I'm not going to second guess . . . I imagine the BB internet browser is plugged into RIM because of browser push functionality, and probably also because of a lot of other stuff I can't imagine.

Upgrade your BB Messenger-- part of outage problem
"UPDATE: RIM now says the problems are software-related. “(The) root cause is currently under review, but based on preliminary analysis, it currently appears that the issue stemmed from a flaw in two recently released versions of BlackBerry Messenger (versions 5.0.0.55 and 5.0.0.56) that caused an unanticipated database issue within the BlackBerry infrastructure,” the company said. “RIM has taken corrective action to restore service.” The full statment is online at Crackberry.com.
In the meantime, RIM is advising users who downloaded or upgraded BlackBerry Messenger since December 14th to upgrade to a new version (5.0.0.57) which resolves the issue. "

RIM Statement - December 23rd
A service interruption occurred Tuesday that affected BlackBerry® customers in the Americas. Message delivery was delayed or intermittent during the service interruption. Phone service and SMS services on BlackBerry smartphones were unaffected. Root cause is currently under review, but based on preliminary analysis, it currently appears that the issue stemmed from a flaw in two recently released versions of BlackBerry® Messenger (versions 5.0.0.55 and 5.0.0.56) that caused an unanticipated database issue within the BlackBerry infrastructure. RIM has taken corrective action to restore service.
RIM has also provided a new version of BlackBerry Messenger (version 5.0.0.57) and is encouraging anyone who downloaded or upgraded BlackBerry Messenger since December 14th to upgrade to this latest version which resolves the issue. RIM continues to monitor its systems to maintain normal service levels and apologizes for any inconvenience to customers.

Step away from iphone. I've been a berry user since the days of the 8700c. Briefly, and I mean briefly, defected to iphone. Hated it and now use trusted Bold. iPhone demoted to iTouch.

Very well could have been. Looks like the poster before me also posted it up as well.
In the future, I'll hold off on posting anything relevant until I can set aside 10 minutes to search and read thru 200 posts for fear that someone may have already posted the information.

still no BIS email on December 24 9:20 pm
Am I the only BIS client in the world who STILL doesn't have email restored from Tuesday's outage? It's now Thursday December 24 at 9:20 pm. Lost email, BBM, and internet through Wednesday afternoon. Got back everything except email today (December 24). Email to my same address is coming in on laptop, just not on 8320 Curve. Carrier is Cincinnati Bell. No response yet from CB customer service. Help!

What the...?
Okay, this is just plain weird. It's now December 30th. The outage was a week ago. And this morning, a bunch of the emails that were delayed in getting pushed down to my BlackBerry due to the outage got pushed down to my BlackBerry AGAIN. And it's still ongoing, another one just came through a few minutes ago. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Some services have been known to barf out a bunch of old messages. My memory is reading about it in the case of gmail, but I don't recall it being exclusive to gmail.
I suspect what you are seeing is not related to the outage recovery. I think all my email backlog came in the following day, and no duplicates.
