Hi there, I'm new using this 9700 type and have problem with its email notification that keep showing red star sign on email envelope where there's no new email at all. How to get rid of it?

can you do options-->Reconsile and try to hit "U" that will take you to latest unread mesg. and that might clear up the false alert or restart could help

Also do a hard reset.... With the power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. For reference you may also want to look at How do I reset my message counter to clear, or zero? - BlackBerryFAQ.

Your suggestion seemed work on my BB, red star has gone now, I haven't received any new email yet as well. Meantime my problem solved Thanks a lot.

Battery pull is THE first troubleshooting step for weird problems.

You can always try alt-right caps-del and see if that fixes the problem. Usually it does, and saves on the hassle of a battery pull.
