Hi all, obviously I'm new here but I have a question for whoever can help. I got my Blackberry Storm this morning *Merry Christmas!* and then tried to install the Blackberry Desktop Software, but for some reason I couldn't install it. I'm running Vista on bootcamp on my Mac. Any ideas?

Need little more info. Are you getting an error message?

Sorry, the error message that comes up is "This installation package could not be opened."

Try logging in as a Vista Administrator, not as a Standard User or a Guest. Nuke anything that you might have done. Go to BB dot com and get 4.7.0.75. Good luck !
I have had poor results trying to sync my iTUNES with the Media Sync under the DM. I had very good results by downloading and installing JUST the Media Sync soft from this same site.

I am the administrator on this computer, and I haven't really installed anything at all, just opened up the window that opens when the disc is loaded and was unable to install the desktop software.

yeah the disk doesnt work right for me either, just go to google and type in download blackberry desktop manager 4.7, you should find it =)

But wait, there are THREE user accounts under VISTA: guest, standard user, and
administrator. As a standard user, you can do lots of administrator things, like
"run as administrator." I have all three installed on my Quad running Windows Vista
Business, but I RARELY log in as THE ADMINISTRATOR (Consigliere in my case), because
it is so dangerous. I mostly run as a standard user.

HELP! I also have just gotten my new BB Storm for Xmas. I can not get the Blackberry Dekstop 4.7 to install on Vista Ultimate, from the CD or from the 4.7 install file downloaded from RIM.

The script proceeds find until it gets to actually installing the software ("Pease wait while the InstallShield installs Blackberry DEskyop Softwar 4.7, This may take several mintes." Well, it just freezes. After a half houf, the Task Manager says that InstallShiled is still running, but NOTHING happens!

I am also running Norton Internet Security, if that's an issue.

What is blocking this install?? Thanks!!

Right click "run as" administrator
