Default Fallen Handset, Screen gone blank

Please Login to Remove!

My Pearl 8100 fell head-on, hitting the floor with its screen. And now, the phone seems to be working, but there is nothing on the screen. When I put the battery on, the phone seems to start, also calls are received, but the speakers are not working so i cant hear anything, and neither is the screen working hence i cant see who is calling. Can someone help me solve the prob.

My problem (and symptoms) are exactly the same as the earlier thread posted by "NeverEvenorOdd" titled "Blank (Black) Blackberry Screen on 8100" on 01-05-09 in this very forum. The only difference is that my handset had fallen on the ground, but otherwise, everything in our case is same. Can someone suggest what and how to check in my handset.

Ouch...

I don't have a good recommendation. It could just be that some connection in the device was damaged or jarred loose. BlackBerrys really are not that senstive to drops as I have seen many dropped with no problems.

If another battery pull or two does not solve it, you may be in for a replacement. With both the screen and external speaker not working, it doesn't look good.

Your best options are:

- Contact your carrier to get replacement options
- File a Phone Insurance Claim
- File an Insurance Claim
- Find a local repair specialist (or a reputable online repair specialist)
- Purchase parts and attempt to repair yourself

Good Luck, and let us know how things turn out.

Yeah, I still don't have a solution for my phone. I was hoping the problem would go away on its own, but it hasn't. There are replacement LCDs on Amazon for < $20, and I might try to find a repair shop to test that a new LCD fixes it before I buy, but I don't know what to do.

UPDATE:

I fixed the phone by opening it up, removing the LCD and putting it back in. Must have been a loose connection, because when I started it up again, it worked! Voila!

I did open-up the set and refitted it. But the problem persists. There is no good result. I think i will have to get a new screen & speakers.
