Default Storm Vs.. Motorola Droid

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

So I have the first gen Storm, and running .328. Phone is finally acceptable and works well.

I am very excited about the google android operating system. I am ready for my "New Every Two" on Verizon and am considering the DRIOD.

I have read some reviews, most seem positive.

Do any of you have the Motorola DRIOD? Are you happy with it? I have played iwth the phone, seems very responsive and faster than the Storm. The hardware alone smokes the Storm. BUT we all know htat no matter the ahrdware if the OS sucks the sucks (intial OS on storm )

Anyways Comments about the DROID ?????

If you use gmail for your email, calendar and contacts, then it should be great for you.

If you use Exchange and BES for that stuff, it has some limitations that will probably not be acceptable to you. At least, they aren't to me and that's why I haven't made the jump.

Your best bet is to go to the Crackberry forums and check out the Android sub-forum.

Jhalpinjr,

I test drove the Google Android in Amsterdam in 2008. Very nice phone, touch screen interface was great, and overall it was a fun device to play with. My only complaint was that it was longer and not easy to get in and out of a pocket. If you use a belt clip or case it would be ok.

I am very attached to my Blackberry so I think Id go with another model rather than jumping ship.

I got a Droid for my son (and let me play with it). I did/do not like the Storm 1.. but I do like the storm2 (to me the new screen makes all the diff in the world). I use the Storm2 for myself because I have to have a blackberry for work. If it was not for that.. I would definetly get the Droid. It's the only non-blackberry phone I would consider.

Yes. Not having BBM or outlook could be an issue for some.

I've been interested as well (sorry for the heresy) but when I first read about the Droid, I was under the impression that it wouldn't be a world phone like my previous 8830 and current Storm 1 are. If a phone isn't capable of switching network types as easily as my BB's have been, then no way.
I could be wrong about the Droid, I haven't looked into the specs fully in a while, but for me that's a dealbreaker...
