It's all in the API docs.
For SMS, see MessageConnection and MessageListener.
For missed calls, you need to attach a listener to the phone log. See PhoneCall and PhoneCallLog

I have already answered your question here, and on the other forum.
You attach your PhoneCallLogListener to the PhoneCallLog, your listener is called whenever a missed call hits the log.
What part of this is not understood? I cannot make it any simpler than that.
If you do not understand the java event/listener model, then I suggest that you purchase a book. This is not the appropriate venue to teach you Java.

alert for unnoticed missed call
thanx for ur reply Dougsg38p,
whatever apis you have told, it is right to check for missed call alert. but that alert depend on status of that missed call in the phonelog. but i have to check the status of missed call alert that comes on the homescreen in form of dialog message. is there any way that i can check that missed call alert.
with thanx and regards

You cannot intercept the missed call dialo, nor get a notification that the missed call dialog occurred (if that is your question).
You have to attach to the log and capture the missed call there.

There is no way to do that. Your only option is to intercept all SMS as they arrive on the device. There is no status listener for SMS, unfortunately.
For Email, you can get all of this using FolderListener.
