Default (micro) SD card - what class ?

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings -

New here, and to Blackberry.

Can anyone advise if, other than faster sync time,
there's any other real benefit to using a higher Class
micro sdhc card in my Curve 8520?

Don't use the beast for pictures or video --
just plan on using a 16GB card to store tunes
for my commute.

My suspicion is that Class 2 should be fine.

All knowledge / experience welcome.

Thanks much.

Doubt the blackberry would benefit from a higher class sd card. Your wallet surely wont benefit from it ;)

Wirelessly posted

I've seen some have claimed the card speed makes an important difference to them for transferring big files or a lot of files. I don't know. I would buy whatever is the best value size/price you find.

The different classes of SC card refer to the transfer speeds that the card is capable of. Since the 8520 is capable of higher transfer speeds than previous blackberrys, it is able to handle something like a class 6 card.

So yes, your phone will benefit from the higher class card. You will experience less lag, which will be important expecially if you are planning on loading it with 16 gigs of music.

I have a Sandisk 16gb Micro sdHC loaded with 14gb of music. No problems whatsoever. Got the card off ebay for about $40
