Default Should My Phone Get Hot Like This (Again)?

Please Login to Remove!

I had this problem last year, but with a different phone and laptop. Now, I'm having it again.
When I tether my laptop, my 8900 gets warm in the back, but not where the battery is. It's more at the bottom right hand side on the back. It's not in a case or any protective case, just propped up on the desk (so it gets plenty air underneath). This does not happen when it is recharging either, only when it's tethered to my laptop.
So, is this suppose to happen?

Is it hot to the touch, or just 'pretty warm'. When it's tethered, could the fan from the laptop be blowing on it?

If it's getting really hot, that's not normal. I've had devices replaced at our company (under warranty) that got too hot....

No, not That warm, but just not the same temp as it is when it's not tethered, which is what had me worried.

I would definitely keep an eye on it. If it gets warmer, or hot to the touch, then get it replaced. Is it still under warranty?

Plenty of time. Take good care of it - make sure it doesn't get wet or dropped (at least not damaged). If you do decide to replace it due to the heat issue, you don't want them to void the warranty because of something else.

Exclamation

Just an update. I may now have the answer as to why my phone gets unusually warm.

https://001batex.com/index.htm

There's also more info on this in Crackberry;

CrackBerry.com

I have one of the batteries (the one on the bottom right column). Same color, wording and everything.
It may be wise for you all to check your batteries.

I just checked my battery and mine also looks like the one on the bottom right column. However, my unit was new. Well, according to the store I bought it from, it's new anyway.

I noticed my phone getting warm but I didn't think too much of it. Is there any more concrete way to determine whether my battery is counterfeit? Everything else on it looks professional - no odd fonts or sloppy printing, no missing water damage indicator, no odd cuts. If it's a counterfeit, it's a good one.

Mine was bought new as well, but I still applied for a replacement battery. According to the site, the counterfeit ones could possibly overheat, and I have been having a problem with my phone getting warm.
