Question Scared to upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I really want to upgrade to the new OS for my 8900 but am nervous to do so as I've never done an upgrade before.

I backup my phone regularly and I have very important data stored. If I upgrade will it wipe my phone? Does it give me the option to reload my data during the upgrade process or will I have to do it afterwards? I would be able to load my old data even though it's a different OS?

And finally ... what happens to the 3rd party apps I purchased? Can they be reloaded through a simple restore or am I out of luck if I upgrade?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm worried.

Thanks!

See blackberryfaq.com re backing up third-party apps. I also understand BBSAK (do a search) is helpful for that purpose.

When you do an OS upgrade, desktop manager should backup and restore your data. But look at the settings and verify. For good measure, go ahead and do a manual backup yourself beforehand, just in case.

Youve got nothing to worry about in doing the upgrade. Trust me on this one.

its easy, and if you dont do any customizations, almost risk free.

Also, the newest .882 build is amazing; you'll see a huge performance gain.

I have had my share of doubts, and sometimes, scares. But in the end, it all worked out. Like was said, do a manual backup just in case. Most importantly, follow the directions exactly.
Also remember these guys & ladies out here are an excellent source for help if you run into any problems, and have no problem giving it to you.
Good Luck! You'll do fine.
