Selecting and deletting multiple emails on the Z 10

I have a Blackberry Z 10 and am looking for a way to delete multiple emails. On the previous Torch I was able to select one email and scroll down and with a finger gesture select and delete all I have highlighted. With the Z 10 I need to do them individually. Is there a faster way?

Press and hold an email header. Select the checkmark icon from the right. Then touch to highlight the emails you want to delete. Then tap the trashcan icon.
