Moving 8100 from T-Mo to Cingular
Please Login to Remove!
I have been using an 8700C on Cingular and couldn't wait for the 8100 to crawl into their lineup. I already have a family plan with T-Mo, so I upgraded my existing phone to the 8100, slapped in my T-Mo sim, added the RIM plan and was ready to go.
When it came time to swap to Cingular, all I needed to do was log into Cingular's BIS site and supply the new PIN and IMEI --- which simultaneously appears to have removed it from the T-Mobile site.
I do not know if this is a new procedure. Last I knew the removal of a PIN from one service provider required a support call.
Apparently so long as you know both the pin and imei you can do it all via the web now.
FYI -- YMMV.
