There are two ways to do it, as said in here.
For a long time I used to use the "hold down the # key" method. That turned out to be cumbersome and slow if I had lots of e-mails.
The "Delete Prior" method is faster and easier.
In case the instructions were not clear.
Open mail folder.
Where you see the list of e-mails use the trackball to scroll upward until the Date and Time bar is highlighted.
Then press <menu> key which is the dotted key to the left of the trackball.
If there is a short menu highlight and press <full menu> with the trackball.
When Full Menu appears scroll to <Delete Prior>
Press <Delete Prior> with your trackball.
It will ask if you want to delete all prior items.
Scroll to "Yes" and press the trackball.
Note that this deletes ALL e-mails, so like the other post said, before doing this save any e-mails you don't want deleted.
